PayToday is a smart, safe and social Namibian payment App that makes paying a business, or a friend, as easy as sending a Whatsapp message.
Download the PayToday App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and complete the short registration process. As part of the registration process you will need to submit your card and bank details. Your card details are used to make payments and your bank details allows your friends and family to pay you back. Bank details are optional.
There are two main types of payments that you can make on PayToday. Personal and business payments.
Once you have installed the App and signed up, PayToday syncs with your address book and imports all your phone contacts into the App. PayToday connects each registered user’s bank account details with their phone number or email address so there is no need to exchange bank details – you simply select the contact you want to pay, enter an amount with a personal message and click pay.
PayToday will automatically display all the registered PayToday businesses on your App. Again, you simply select the business that you want to pay, enter the amount and click pay. You can also buy airtime and electricity, pay for petrol and parking, pay at shops and so much more. More businesses, utilities and other services are added every day! Soon you will be able to pay anywhere with PayToday!
Safety and security is our number one priority. We make use of a PCI DSS Level 1 compliant card tokenisation system to store your card details for future use. Your card details are never shared with us, nor is it stored anywhere on our systems, so no one will ever be able to get your card details from PayToday. Our Merchant Account is at Nedbank Namibia (Pty) Ltd and Paygate VCS Namibia (Pty) Ltd is our payment gateway service provider.
The PayToday App also requires you to enter a three digit PIN (your CVV number) before any transaction can be completed. This prevents anyone who has your phone from making transactions, as your PIN should be known only to you.
PayToday works with any eC-commerce enabled MasterCard or Visa card issued by any of the Namibian banks. Technically speaking, all Hybrid Debit cards and any Credit card will work.
A Hybrid Debit card is a MasterCard or Visa card that has a CVV number on the back and is enabled for online payments. Please remember that some banks automatically disable debit cards for online payments, so you may need to contact your bank and request them to enable this functionality. When you add your card details on the App, it automatically tests the account details and produces an error message if the card is not supported.
Almost all of them. PayToday will work on all devices that run on the iOS (version 11 and up) and Android (version 4.4 and up) operating systems. Unfortunately PayToday will not work on the iPhone 4 nor iPhone 5C.
Yes, 100%! Downloading and using the App is completely free of charge.
Please note that the normal bank charges that apply for card transactions might apply when using PayToday. These charges are dependent on the type of card used and the pricing and fee structure offered by your bank.
The following cards are free of charge (do not attract any bank charges) on PayToday:
- Credit Cards
- Debit Cards (that are issued as part of a bundled fee/fixed electronic pricing option which is offered by most Namibian banks).
Receiving money will never cost you anything and we strongly recommend that you consider switching to a bundled/fixed electronic pricing option offered by most Namibian banks to ensure you don’t incur any additional charges to send money with PayToday.
Yes, very secure! All your personal information (including your bank details) is encrypted, stored and protected on secure servers, and we will never share your information with any third parties.

We have a quick, easy, and convenient sign up process that is done completely online. Within an hour after completing registration and providing us the required information you will be able to start accepting payments from customers via PayToday. Anyone that has a Namibian cellphone number and a Namibian Debit Hybrid or Credit Card and that has downloaded the App on their phone. The App is downloaded from the Apple App Store for iOS phones and the Google Play Store for Android phones. PayToday works with all Namibian banks.
The client will open the PayToday App on their phone, search for your business under the “Business” tab, select your business, enter the amount to pay and enter their CVV number to authorise the payment.
Yes, we have developed our own payment gateway called Pay with PayToday (PwPT). With PwPT your client can complete payment using the PayToday App or by entering their bank card details directly. This means anyone with a Debit- or Credit Card can pay your business online. To find out more click here.
No, it is not required in order to receive business payments.
Successful payment notifications are sent via SMS and/or email. You can choose. PayToday can provide the business with a simple cellphone charged at N$250 to receive SMSs. PayToday will also provide secure access to a real-time back office where all transaction details can be viewed.
We charge a small commission on successful payments made to your business – there are no recurring service or hardware costs.
No, but Nedbank business account holders will qualify for a greatly reduced commission and faster settlement time of payments. Opening a Nedbank account is easier than ever. You complete an online application and we take care of the rest.

Payments to your business are batched into a daily total and paid to your account. Daily settlements will reflect on your bank account within 48 hours of the payment by your customer.

Yes, we create a profile so that you can login to your PayToday account on our website to view all transactions – past and present. Daily recons for all transactions are also sent via email.
